Hi friends! As you can see my name is Tasha but it’s pronounced like “Tosha”. I am a non-traditional student, meaning I returned to school at 28 to pursue my true calling of becoming a teacher. Before that, I worked as a SRNA, but I mostly did in-home care for patients with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Creative thinking was an everyday necessity for that job. I was constantly planning and organizing activities and little projects that we could do together! I have a 5 year-old daughter named Nevaeh and she is my motivation for almost everything I do. She’s my best friend so most of my interests and hobbies revolve around her. However, when mommy’s free time comes around, as it seldom does, I love watching Netflix or diving into a good book. She and I both are so very excited about this class, because we love doing arts and crafts projects together. Actually, that’s another example of everyday experiences that require my creative thinking skills. Traditional coloring gets old after a while, so many days I have to pull out the old craft box so we can create new masterpieces. One time we went on a nature walk and collected random things like rocks, sticks, and leaves and then painted and glued them to cardboard to make beautiful collages. When I have a classroom of my own, I hope to do fun activities like this with my students. After graduating, I’m hoping to return to my hometown of Prestonsburg, Kentucky to teach Elementary students. Hopefully, they will enjoy arts and crafts as much as I do!
